Abitos is a personal real estate agency in Ghent. We believe real estate is not about bricks, but about people, their plans and their trust.
How it started
Real estate can be personal again
Abitos grew from a simple conviction: a real estate agency does not have to be an anonymous machine.
Jan Claeyssens and Gaethan Mertens founded Abitos out of a shared passion for real estate and the conviction that it can be done differently. Both are recognised valuation experts and registered with the BIV. Where many agencies grow into anonymous machines, they deliberately chose the opposite: one dedicated point of contact who knows your file inside out, from the first conversation to after the deed.
The office found a home in Ghent, on Karel Lodewijk Dierickxstraat. From there we serve Ghent and all of East Flanders with deep local market knowledge. No surprises, no small print, but clear communication and correct guidance.
Cedric soon joined the team as a trainee real estate agent. Since then Abitos has kept growing, not by becoming bigger but by becoming better: with new services such as Rentor and our property management practice, and with a lasting commitment to the city. That is why a fixed share of our profit goes structurally to Huize Triest.
